Reclamation Policy of
U. S. Gov't is Attacked
Washington, D. C. —An attack on the
government’s reclamation policy was
contained in a report today by the
house sub-committee on permanent
appropriations. The sub-committee
charged that irrigation projects were
in a stage of stagnation, that the in
tent of the law had been violated in
many important respects in the last 12
years, that much of the reclaimed
land is in the hands of speculators. It
recommended against any new recla
mation legislation without submission
of annual estimates to congress.
The report, signed by Representa
tive Borland as chairman, says that
of 31 projects begun in the last 12
years, not more than three are nomi
nally finished.
