washerwoman arrived bearing a gaily
decorated clothes hamper loaded with
many dainty and useful gifts which
were presented to the bride-elect in
true ante-bellum style.

Mrs Samuel Horne, aged 30 years,
died at the home of her father, Mr.
V. H. Stanford, near Harlem, on the
evening of the 11th Inst., lifter a lln
gerlng illness of several months from
pellagra. She leaves a husband and
one little daughter along with many
other relatives to mourn her death.
Her remains were burled In the cem
etery at Harlem on Friday morning,
the funeral being conduhted by Rev.
L M. Twiggs.
Mr. Hubert Battghn la quite sick at
hts home In Harlem.

ing of the Board of Education of Co
lumbia County it was decided to con
ooltdate the Ellis and Philadelphia
schools aqd to erect a new building
for this purimse between the two
mdghborhoods. Heretolore. a portion
of the Ellis school have been coming
to Harlem by way of wagon furnish
ed bv the County Board of Education

Philadelphia schools, the wagon will
he done away with An effort was

school with the Winfield school, but
such a strong protest was made by
the Phlnizy delegation that this was
