Results of Research Work Told

Atlantic City, N. J.—lnteresting re

ed to the house of delegates of the
American Medical Association here
today.
On behalf of the Thompson-McFad

corps, F. S. A.; P. R. Garrison, M. D.,
passed assistant surgeon XT. S. N., and
W. J. Mac Neal, M. Ih, New York.
Their synopsis showed that in Spar
tanburg county, South Carolina, pel
lagra is most prevalent in the cotton

women, young children and old people
of both sexes. The disease seems Lo
originate through proximity to or as
sociation with a pre-existing cake of
pellagra. It spreads most rapidly in
districts w here unsanitary- methods of
sewage disposal are :n use.
Hygienic Treatment.
Attempts to transmit pellagra to an
imals have been unsuccessful. Hy
gienic and dietetic treatment of the
disease has yielded good immediate
results but after returning to former
conditions of environment nearly all
eases have recurred.
The house of delegates, in which is
centered the administrative functions
of the body, went on record as opposed
to the evils of child labor. Resolu
tions deploring the conditions under
whit li many thousands of children
work were adopted without a disse. .-

Resolutions also were adopted set
