EVERY day more women realize
the value and importance of an
extension telephone connected with the
present Bell Telephone and located at a
convenient place in the house.
Running up and down stairs is tire
some work. An extension telephone re
duces it to a minimum and the telephone
is always near you when you are up
stairs or down stairs.
The extension telephone is as im
portant in the home as modern equip*
ment in the office. Many thoughtful
husbands are taking this means of light
ening the burdens of the housewife.
What does it cost ?

During tho week a visit was paid
(he Contest Department by a gentle
man who asked: “What is this plane,
anyway?” Was the question asked the
contest manager.
"This place, sir, is the Herald's Mer
chants and Manufacturers’ label sav
ing contest headquarters.” "Oh, yes,”
said the visitor, "but what Is the na
ture of the contest?” It is simply an
advertising feature," was the mana
ger's reply, “The Augusta Herald Is
offering $2000.00 in cash and prizes to
Organizations, Individuals and Chil
dren for simply saving labels from well
known manufactured products and
merchants sales slips without the ex
pense of a penny on the part of the
contestants.”
"Do you mean to say the Herald is
giving $2,000.00 to those who secure
the highest number of votes by simply
saving and merchants sales-slips?”
"That ts it, exactly, sir.” "Well that
accounts for my wood house being
filled with labels, tin cans and car
toons. I’ll bet my wife is gathering
these things up for some organization.
For she undoubtedly has enough of
this junk to Justify a. drayman charg

tainly appreciate this contest for sev
ers] reasons. Before thiH contest start
ted we had a cook and house-girl and
my wife never went any place. Now
we have neither cook or house girl and
my wife is never at home only long
enough to prepare meals and do house
work. Your contest has not only re
duced expenses, but has gotten my
wife In the habit of going out and gel
ting exercise, consequently, she is en
joying better health."
The visitor assured the Conntest
Manager that his wife would have hiH
heartiest co-operation in the future. 1
