Every piece of steel used in the erection of the Empire and Chronicle
building was tested by this firm, and in fact was placed in the building under
their direct supervision. All the steel used in these buildings was tested from
the time the rough ore went to the furnaces through every stage of its mak
ing. G. Lloyd Preacher says this firm did valuable work for the Augusta
buildings, and that their services were satisfactory in every instance.
