Dearing, Ga.—Messrs. Will Johnson,
Charlie Whitaker, Robt. Lucky and
Judge Adams, from Headstall, were
here Saturday.
Mr. L. 1.,. Gay, from Augusta, was
avisitor here this week.
Miss Jamie Jackson, of Matthews,
was the attractive guest of her sis
ter, Miss Francis Jackson, at the
"Howard House” this week. From
here Miss Jackson goes to Warrenton
and will spend some time with Miss
Thomson and Mrs. Norton Hart.
Mrs. Wm. Reeves, from Wrens, Ga.,
ii was the guest of Mrs. C. C. Culpepper
Thursday on her way home from Har
lem, where she was the guest of Mrs
Belie Lansdell.
Mrs. Jack Sharp, after spending
several days very pleasantly with her
father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Robt.
Morgan, has returned to her home in
sparta. Mrs. Sharp has many friends
here who are delighted to see her.
Mrs. Fred Howard has been spend
ing some time in Thomson this week
with relatives and friends.
Miss Hattie Ruth Farmer, of Stella
vllle, will be the attractive guest of
Mrs. Howard next week. She has
made visits here before and has made
many frierds.
Mr. Lucius Morgan spent Saturday
with home folks.
Thomson’s Auto Club” stopped over
and spent a short while Friday on
their advertising trip. They were a
jolly crowd and gave us some good
imusic by the “Thomson Band.”
There will be preaching at the Bap
tist Church here Sunday at 11 o’clock.
.Baptising at 10 o’clock. Preaching at
>7:30 in thfe evening.
Mr. Small wood, from Sparta, Is
with his daughter, firs. James Lang
ham.
Professor Morton, Messrs. Fred
Howard and Marcus Culpepper took
in "Mutt and Jeff Friday night in
Augusta.
Mr. J. E. Pearson was the guest of
his brother, Mr. Harden Pearson,
Saturday.
Mrs. B. R. Printup and little Sara
and Robert Printup are with Mr. and
Mrs. Gus Nickols in Augusta.
Rev. D. A. Howard and Mr. Harden
Pearson were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
C. H. Williams at dinner Saturday.
Mr. W. Z. Simons made a pleasant
visit to Augusta Friday.
Mr. Julian Harris made a business
trip to Charleston this week.

Mr. Elliott Wood, of Jacksonville,
Fla., spent a few days in Aiken this
week, visiting her aunt, Mrs. R. w.
'McCreary.
Mr. David B. McNanain, Of Chester
town, Md., has taken a cottage in
Aiken for the winter months.
Mrs. D. S. Henderson, Jr., of Co
lumbia, spent this week in Aiken with
her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Frampton
Wyman.
Mr. Paul Warrick has returned to
his home in Philadelphia, after spend
ing the summer months in Aiken.
Mr. F. R. Lyons, of New York City,
is here for several weeks.

vember, Mrs. Nelson Johnson alter
nate. Mrs. D. S. Henderson, Sr., the
regent, will attend the conference, and
Mrs. Walter Duncan will also attend'

ALLENDALE NEWS
Allendale, S. C|. —The Women’s Mis
sionary Society of the Savannah River
Association convened here Thursday
and Friday. Quite a number of visit
ing delegates being present in what
proved to be a very profitable session.
Dr. O. B, Hartzog and a party of
friends from Greenville motored
through Allendale Wednesday to Tor
boro, on a doer hunt. They were ac
companied by Mr. Hal R. Erwin, and
the party succeeded in bringing down
two of the fleet-footed creatures.
Quite a number of bidders for the
work of improving Allendale’s streets
were here Friday. It is proposed to
sand-clay them and $7,000 will be so
invested, it is said. *

Denmark, S. C.—Mrs. J. W. Wyman
entertained a congenial number of
friends Thursday morning. Quantities
of half-blown pink roses filled the
vases in the drawing room and dining
room, The guests wore served an ele
gant three-course luncheon, the place
cards being daintily done in water
colors.
Mrs. J. S. Matthew's was hostess to
a large number of ladies Thursday
afternoon, the game of hidden identity
being the amusing part of the affair.
After this a dainty salad course w’as
served.
Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Bethea have re
turned to their home in Darlington
after a visit to Mrs. Bethea’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. J. G. H. Guess.
Mrs. James B, Guess, Jr., has re
turned from a short visit to parents

Dr. Irving P. Carr of Weewauken,
N. J., is spending a fortnight in town
with friends.
