was charged with the inuriler of
Marcus McTler, another negro. He
was represented by Mr. VV. Inman
Curry, who put up an a bio defense
for him. Tin* result was that the Jury
took only .. short time to reach a ver
dict of not guilty.

Warehouse Company, was found guilty

$450,000 LOSS, FOREST FIRES.
Hsrrisburg, Pa,—Forest fires In
Pennsylvania have so far this year
caused damage estimated at more than
$450,000, according to a summary made
up by the state department of forestry.
The summary shows that 241,48*1 acres
were burned over and that it cost the
state more than $16,000 to extinguish
the fire*.

URIAH CARR, BARTENDER

MANY YEARS, IS DEAD
Uriah Carr, for years bartender for
Mr. John R. Schneider at the corner
of Sixth and Broad Streets, and one
of the best known colored men In this
city or section passed away last night.
Uriah was respected by both white
and colored people, lie was a very
Intelligent man and had a great many
friends. He Is survived by three
daughters and two sons. Recently
he had been working at the Hofhrau.
When the prohibition law went into
effect in Georgia, January 1, 1908. Mr.
Schneider closed bis place and has
never re-opened it for selling beer or
whiskey. Since that time Uriah has
worked at various places.
