WHAT THE WOMAN'S CLUB
DID FOR THE BELGIANS.
Those who bo generously contribut
ed to the Belgian Relief Fund will no

boxes shipped by the Augusta Wo
man's Club and tells us that thc> were.
Immediately forwarded to Belgium
with a great many others received at
the same time by the Woman's Club.
The $332.09 sent to him through Mr.
If L. deGlve, the Belgian consul in
Atlanta, he received later and It was
used for the purchase of fifty barrels
of flour which are also on their way
to Belgium.
The collection of SB2 from the united
Thanksgiving services was given to us
and then sent to the Salvation Army
ns requested, so that a church collec
tion would go through a religious or
ganization to the Belgian sufferers,

the sufferers.
At this Christmas time of unusual
giving it might he some small comfort
to know that Augusta has contributed

and want elsewhere as well as at

Interesting to many friends will be
the announcement of the marriage of
Miss Bonnie l’earl Fuller and Mr. ,1.
Herbert Eubanks which took plant
yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the
manse of the First Presbyterian
< 'hurch.
No formal cards had been sent out
and there were no guests present.
After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Eu
banks were entertained informally at
tile home of Mrs. B. O. l'age before
leaving for a visit with the bride's
mother, Mrs. R. 8. Fuller, on Ht. Car
los Bay.
Miss Marion Blalock, of Edgefield,
8. C., is the guest of Miss Josephine
Woodson on upper Greene Street.
Mrs. IS. E. Adams, who has been with
Mrs. Agatha Woodson left today for
Moultrie, 8. C., where site will be with
her Bister, Mrs. Reddick, before going
back to Edgefield.
- Mr. nnd Mrs. Vernon Elliott will
come down from Atlanta for the
Christmas season, which they will
spend with Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Elliott.
Frit .els of Mrs. it. G. Parks will
regret to learn of her continued In
disposition.
Mrs. Gordon Harrison has return
ed to Savannah.
Mr. Allen K, Steinberg has re
turned from the Tech for the holi

to his home and suffering from a
badly sprained ankle,
Mr. Henri McGowan and Mr. Mar
lin Cozart left yesterday for their
borne In Augusta to spend the holi
days. Mr. Alfred Nicholson, of Au
gusta, will come up this week for a
visit to hb mother, Mrs. A. it. Nichol
son. He will be accompanied on his

tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry,
love, romance can push aside 1 at
curtain ami view and picture the sup
ernal beauty and glory beyond. Is It
all real? Ah, Virginia, Iri all the world
there is nothing else real and abid
ing.
No Sanat Claus! Thank God! he
lives, and lives forever A thousand
years from now, Virginia, nay, ten
thousand years from now; he will
continue to make glad the heart of
childhood.

has been arranged and everybody is

LAKESIDE CLUB TO GIVE
CHRISTMAS DANCE.
The Lakeside Boat Club, which al
ways gives such delightful dances, Is
arranging for one for the Tuesday
after Christmas, December 29th, when
the club members will he entertained.
There is no organisation in Augusta
that is productive of more pleasure
than Is tile Lakeside Club and invita
tion to one of their entertainments is
always welcome.
Dancing will begin at nine and dur
ing I tie evening delicious punch and
sandwiches will tie served. Balk's
Orchestra will lie in attendance.
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION
THIS EVENING.
There will he a Christmas tree for
the scholars of the Reid Memorial
Sunday school at 6 o’clock this after
noon at the church. There wilt he a
regular Santa Claus and everything
to insure a good lime for all who
come. Mrs. Roy Goodwin, Mrs. Sam

the music commltle for this occasion.

kets of food to the poor of Augusta
Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at
the Salvation Army Hall on the 1200
block of Broad. In each basket will
be enough foor for a family of five.
The contents of each basket will he
as follows:
One chicken.
Two quarts of potatoes.
Apples.
Onions,
One pound of sugar,
One pound of coffee
Riee.
A mince pie.
Loaf of bread.
Can of tomatoes.
Can of soup
Small hag of flour.

Each Pupil is Asked to Bring a
Present For Some Poor Child.
The First Christian Sunday school
Christmas tree will be held on Thurs
day evening at 6 o’clock. Santa Claus
will be there with presents for the
children. There will he Hongs and
recitations and a delightful program
has been planned.
Every child Is requested to bring a
present for some poor child in Au
gusta. In this manner the children
will he taught that th-ey should give
as well as receive, and the sugges
tion I hat each child bring a present to
ihe Christmas tree celebration is one
that will make forcible appeal to the
Sunday school superintendents and
teachers of Augusta.

The Salvation Army Christmas tree
will be held In the Salvation Army
Hall Christmas night and hundreds of
children will be given presents.
Thursday afternoon Adjutant Yates,
dressed as Santa Claus, will stand by
the pot at the corner of Broad and
Eighth Streets. The people of Au
gusta are assisting liberally In the
work of the Salvation Army and the
Adjutant and Mrs. Yates are deeply
