LYNCH WHITE MAN

about three miles from Hartford, Ala.,

to have telephoned one Henry Collins,
to stop Windham. He did so, not know
ing what was wanted with the man.
On arrival at the home of Collins, a
party of men informed Collins of their

ham until they had promised not to
kill him, it is said.

COUNTY TAX RATE IS
BOOSTED FOUR CENTS
Commissioners Fix New Rate
at 66 Cents on the Hundred
The advance in prices of all commodi
ties used by the county is mentioned as
the principal reason why an increase of
4 cents on the hundred dollars was Tues
day applied to the codhty tax rate at a
meeting of the county commissioners,
called for the purpose of fixing th* rate
for the next fiscal year. The county rate
was 62. and was raised to 66 cents on
the hundred dollars.
The total rate for county, state and
school taxes has been $2.12. Just what it
will b»- this year is not definitely deter
minabl'e. but it is certain that there will
be .a substantial increase.
The board of education will moot Sat
urday to fix the school taxes, and State
Tax Commissioner Fulibright. of .Atlanta,
will shortly determine the*state rate.
6 MILLION DOLLAR LOAN
TO SEABOARD APPROVED
Washington.— Approval of a loan of
$6,073,400 to the Seaborn! Air Dine Kail
road Company, and $896,925 to '.he Ter
minal Railroad Association of St. Louis
was announced Monday by the Inter
state Commerce Commission.
The loan to the Seaboard Air Line,
the commission said, is to ajd the road
in acquiring refrigerator cars at a total
cost of $1,058,000. in making additions
and betterments at a total cost of $750.-
000. and to meet its 1920 maturities ag
gregating $<5,245,000. The railroad is re
quired to finance $3,982,600 to meet th*
loan of the government.
