SEVERE DROUGHT
IN THE COAL
REGIONS ,
PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Practically
the entire state of Pennsylvania east
of the Allegheny mountains is suffer
ing from one of the worst drouths
in years. In some parts of the state
no rain has fallen in more than two
months and streams are so low that
many industries have been Interfered
with and in some instances plants
have been shut down for the lack of
water. Forest fires ar e burning in
several sections and some localities
report that the crops will be entirely
ruined unless rain comes soon.
At Shenandoah, in the anthracite
regions, the water supply is so low
that farmers are hauling water to
town Instead of vegetables as there
is more profit In hauling water than
in peddling vegetables.

best salve the world affords. It cur

fails to heal every sore, Dura or
wound to which it is applied 25c at

Water Works Notice.
THE PUBLIC IS REQUESTED TO
be very careful to leave all hydrants
and other openings closed to avoid
any waste of water. We have found
many cases, where parties will
leave hydrants open, presumably to
be certain to know when the water
is turned on. This causes a great
waste which must be stopped.
Water will not be put on in the
afternoon until lurther notice.
SprinkliDg of lawns and washing
o f pavements strictly prohibited.
