McLaurln for an intervlwtr in con
nection with the reports in the mom
ing papers, in connection with the
Standard Oil company, the senator
firmly stated that he had no addi
tional statement to make further than
wbat he had given out last night to
the newspapers, and which was pub
lished this morning The senator ap
pears not to be disturbed in the least
over the reports.

Brown t! Co., were arrested Friday
afternoon as they were leaving the
[tostoffice building, by four Central
Office detectives.

arrested as a result of charges rs
alleged fraudulent transactions grow

32. These charges are now In the
hands of the district attorney. The
four men were taken to police head
quarters They had been In the post
office building attending a hearing
before United States Commissioner
Alexandria, in connection with their
failure.

vote was the largest Mr. Woodward
ever received.
Out of a total vote of 8.790, Mr.
Woodward received 4,608, as against
4,182, the combined rote of both of
his opponents Under the new pri
mary law, which provides that a can
didate must secure a majority of the
total vote cast or else run the race
over, with the next highest, Mr.
Woodward had to receive 4,395 votes
In order to avoid running In a se<'
ond primary. With 4,608 voles he
had 213 to spare.
