MISS LIZZIE VAUGHAN.
The pretty lliilp mlllmry parlors on:
i hi - nix bund rod block of Ilroad struct,
presided over by Mlhk Lizzie Vaughan,
are always most popular not only be
cause of the popularity of Its owner,
but because her beautiful taste al
ways dictates the selection of the
most exquisite creations of the art to
which she Is so cultured a devotee.
Mis* Vaughan's large clientage In ,
eludes some of the best dressed wo
men in Augusta, all of whose par
tlcular and especial wants she has In
mind when she selects her season's
stock, with the result that all of her
hats are strongly individualized. All
that she l* showing this year, and
that will eali for the most enthusiastic
praise at the opening on Monday and i
Tuesday of this week, are exceptional
ly attractive to the eye and not too:
exacting on the pocket book
Among the most pleasing of the
] models shown are: A large green
l velvet shape the high crown of which
i Is swathed In pale green chiffon with
i 'ouches of gold braid, and with enor
: irious green wings caught with gold
| pins. A still larger hat of pale blue
hangallno with an enormous crown
about which Is a soft blue band of
' feathers; a goid-colored satin hat de
pending upon its size for Its distinc
tion slid trimmed simply with black
wings, A mahogany velvet with
brown winga and a toupe lining; i
some beautiful combinations in blue
and again different shades of roses;
and any number of artistic and girl
islilv simple misses huts The whole
collection Is all that could be desired,
and promises to prove Irresistible j
when once it is seen.
AT MESDAME3 MORSE i CATO.
It I* safe to say that the hats that
will be shown by Mcsdames Mors--
and <"ato on Monday and Tuesday will
be quite the prettiest that will be
worn this season. There is a dial mo
tive touch of Individuality given to
their creations that are as effective
as It is rare and everything from
their pretty parlors possess •» the hall
mark of up to dateness. Mcsdames
Morse and Cato have built up a most
flattering ellentelie by the superior ex
ceileiice of their creation* as much
as by their ever rcudv obligingness
'of their most courteous saleswomen.
These painstaking artists will di.
play a stock Infinitely larger than any,

ever Increasing patronage being such
that they have found It necessary not
only to enlarge every season their
orders, but to vary in every way pos

AT MISS CARRIE SULLIVAN'S.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Miss
; Carrie Sullivan's lovely parlors, ou
Jackson street, will be the .Mecca of
fashionable Augusta, for she will then
show some of the rarely beautiful cre
lat ions that she has been so busily
deslgulug for the past few weeks,
copies of some of the most exquisite
things seen in New York Tuques
tlonably Ml* Sullivan's hats this sea
son are among the most bewitching
i that will be seen and she will depart
from her usual order of procedure,
and will only show those hats suttab.e
j tot misses and ladies, and not have
: her children's display until later In
i the season.
The hats seen here will posses* one
quality that Is so much to be desired
—they will be becoming and will each
one intensify the v of the

THE AUGUSTA HERALD
MISS MOLLIE MURRAY.
One of the finest assortments of
Imported hats ever brought to Au
gusta will be shown on Tuesday and
Wednesday at the fashionable mil
linery parlors of Miss Mollie Murray,
at which time will be shown all the
latest exponents of what Is the ac
eepted mode In Paris, Vienna and New
York. This large and varied stock
will be so extensively added to a lit
tle later In the season that Miss Mur
ray regards the opening of this week
as being merely preliminary to one
she expects to hold In October.
However, if one fails to find what
Is desired among these elaborate cre
ations then one is difficult to please
Indeed. An absolutely irresistible hat
is of pale blue felt with the new
French uncurled ostrich pompon and
with just a touch of black velvet rib
bon. Another hat no loss attractive
Is of green with the most bewilder-
Ingly beautiful combinations of color
In the roses and foliage crowning it.
Kven more distinctive Is a hat of
black velvet with a crown of white
pony skin against which nestles a
single pink rose.
On a hat of brown satin with
rosettes of brown chiffon with knots
of gold braid is shown the arrange
ment of lhe new veils Miss Murray
is introducing into Augusta, a veil
that is voluminous, soft and becom
ing and that is confined at the throat
by a wide hand of gold braid com
pletely encircling the neck.
MISS ANNIE RICE.
The upstairs parlors of Miss An
nie Rice on the eight hundred block
of Ilroad street are being arranged
very attractively for the opening of
the seusons of 1908 and 1009, which
ts lo take place on Monday and
Tuesflay.
li has been Miss Rice's aim, this
fall, to choose hat* that, while they
ere thoroughly up-to-date and entire
ly satistuctory from fashion's stand
point, ait- not so expensive as to
make th< in prohibitory to the wo
man who would appear well-dressed
but must at the same time carefully
consider ways and means. Some
really marvellous resuds for almost
unbelievably small sums have been
accomplished through Miss Rice’s
ability to skilfully copy w ith her own
fingers u number of the exorbitant
ly high French infidels.
Notable among these models was
one of the extravagantly big hats ot
he intensely popular hunter's green
velvet wall an enormous cluster of
the green Cluny feathers so much in
vogue. The favorite touch of gold
was of course in evidence here both
In the pins and In the smalt band
oi gold braid visible,
"
tensely becoming to almost anyone
is a small black velvet with no
brim worth mentioning and a very
tall crown on one side of which Is a
cluster of black wings. About the
crown Is a band of novelty braid.
AT MISS KHMCHLEY'S.
\t the attractive parlors of Miss
Kinchley there will be shown tomor
row and Tuesday some of the most
stunning.creations that will be seen
In Augusta this season Miss Klnch
ley selected her stock with a view
to individual customers and the re
• suit has been that there are any num
ber of handsome pattern hats that
seem to l>e made tor just those wo
men who will buy them Her ready
to wear and shirtwaist hats are es
pecially chic and are among the most
stylish that were In the northern mar
kets Not to see Mias Kinchley's cre
ations on Monday and Tuesday la to
tula* one of the prettiest displays of
the fall season.
Miss Klnchiev is at her old stand.
Ilroad street, and she and her as
1 slstanta will take pleasure In display
ing her rarely beautiful stock
MISS ELLA HUGHES.
There is a style and a charm about
the hats that are always to be found
at Miss Ella Hughes’ that distinguish
them wherever they are seen and by
whomever they are worn. The Jiats 1
she has in preparation for the open
ing to be held this coming Tuesday
and Wednesday are even more mark
edly beautiful than anything here- j
tofore shown in her always delight- !
fully attractive parlors. Miss Hughes'
well known gift for artistic selection
and construction has an exceptional
ly wide scope in this season’s styles,
for they arc nothing if not pictur
esque in design and almost daringly
original in color combination. All of
j the most extreme styles, however,
Miss Hughe* has greatly modified for
the peculiarly exclusive trade to
wlilch she caters demands something
a little more conservative than the
majority of the creations that seem
to have won universal approval this
season.
Where there is so much that is
most worthy of admiration it is diffi
cult to select any one or two hats
for special notice, but there are sev
eral so remarkable for their grace
and harmony that once seen they can
never be forgotten. One of these Is
made of softest gold-brown bengaline
silk-lined with the same silk in a pale
lemon color. The broad crown is sur
rounded by a wreath of flowers and
the chief ornament is an enormous
rose in which are blended the two
shades of silk. In bengaline silk
also is a large hat in the torpe shade
trimmed elaborately in cut steel and
grey ostrich plumes and with strings
of grey velvet ribbon. Still another,
possibly even more lovely, is of violet j
satin trimmed iu exquisitely blended
roses of different shades.
AT THE MISSES ROBERTSON.
One of the most eagerly anticipated
displays of the fall season Is that of
the Misses Robertson, at 1027 Broad
street, where they will show to the
admiring public hats of every kind
that will be worn this season. The
Misses Robertson have established
themselves as prVme favorites In the
fashionable world of trade, and the
creations coming front their skilled
fingers are beyond criticism. Pre
dominating a full and varied stock of
up-to-date hats Is the ever popular
black hat that will be such a factor
in the cofjring season's style. There
are the quaint old styles tha‘ seem
copied from old pictures and that
when looked at in the hand seem just
a little impossible, but when property
adjusted on the head are most pic
turesque and wonderfully becoming.
Conspicuous among this pretty dis
play Is a huge white satin with fancy
white feathers that vas designed 'or
one of the winter brides, and another,
no less beautiful, v.as of silk and
rneline in the soft banana shade with
grass aigrettes A 1 ,'oad blaek bat
showed up effectively with its trim
mings of green wings caught with a
single crimson rose, and still another
was of black felt, a medium slse.
with trimmings of black and white
fancy ostrich feathers
The Misses Robertson, will have
their display on Tuesda'y and Wed
nesday of this week and extend a very
cordial invitation to all to attend It,
irrespective of whether they wish to
bay or not. '
