School News.
W? .have visited nearly all
schools that are in operation,
have found moat of them in
good condition considering
disadvantages of poor school hous¬
es in. We have found the
tendance of nearly all the
very low, which ttself prevents
schools from being as
as tbay would be with good
tendance. We have found a
of more books in some of
schools and recommend
be supplied if po-sible. We have
found English Grammar
much neglected. We urge
this important branch may not be
neglected.
The general examination
toachere will be held on Soiur
ay, June the first. Mr, Qlenn in¬
forms me that the preparations
of the examination was left with
the faculties of the State Ur.iver
sity and State Normal school, and
that it will be in line with educa¬
tional progress. There will he
tenquestions directly from Roark’s
Methods. The others will be
from the common school branch¬
es We ^ish the touchers success,
and hope they will make all avail¬
able preparations. It •> our de
•ire to aid them in bringing the
schools of Wayne to the front.

Directors of the Savannah, Flor

county hereby advertise for seal
bids for the erection of a public
bridge to be built across Little
SatiHa Creek on the Darien and
Holmesvilie public road near the
residence of Mrs. A. R. Roberson
Said bridge to be built upon a
mud-sill foundation. Extreme
length of bridge to be 370 feet,
height to be determined by loca¬
tion of ground, all material must
be of the best heart cypress or fa*,
lightwood or the very best green
heart pine.
Sakl bridge must be built in
strict conformity tv the plan and
specification of same now of file
in this office. All bids received
will be opened and considered at
10 o'clock a. m. Tuesday June the
11th, 1901.
Contractor required to
ail material and give the required
bond. The board of commission¬
ers reserves the right to reject any
