am in position to recommend cer¬
tain improvements in the present
laws which will better safeguard
the interests of the depositors in
Georgia’s state banks.
If elected to this important
position, I shall give every effort

last Saturday afternoon in
of the Misses Dunn of Waycross.
The guests were received at the
door by Mrs. Knight and
Bessie Dunn. On entering the par¬
lor they were served with ice
and sand witches by Miss Ethel
Dunn, and Miss Essie Drawdy.
Forty-two, heart dice, and up
jinks were played Miss Georgia
May Baker winning the prize, a
pound box of candy.
After the games, an ice coarce
was served.

Mr. W. B. Purcell, carrier on
route No. 1 recently brought to
the News office an open and
well developed bowl of sea island
cotton grown on the farm of Mr.
R. L. Westberry who lives on
Mr. Purcell’s route. Mr. Purcell
stated that Mr. Westberry had an
excellent stand of this cotton.
Mr. B. R. Shedd has purchased
the livery business of Mr. H. J.
Westberry and will operate in

from Jesup recently; Mr. Dan
Knight who lives near Phinhol
loway killed a rattlesnake that
nearly six feet and had
seven rattles.
The town of Jesup is straight

their street taxes. The Mayor
has instructed the marshal to Hit¬
men those failing to pay.
A protracted meeting will com¬
mence church next Saturday at New Sa¬
lem near Broadhurst. Rev.
