Commissioner of Agriculture
Hudson predicts twenty cent
ton this fall He says that
will be only a half crop and
that thia, combined with business
conditions and a holding move¬
ment among the farmers of the
south, would produce the high
price.
If Georgia had not had a lot of
routine governors for so many
years the roads r nd public achools
•f the state at least might not be
in their prwent deploraple condl
tion. Georgia needs a statesman,
a progressive builder pioneer in
public policies at the head of her
affairs. A chief clerk will bard
ly meet the states requirements at
this time.—Waycross Journal,
A german lutberan colony from
Ohio through their agent, Mr.
J. J. Vorpe have purchased a
large tract of land near McKin¬
non, Ga. on which they intend to
locate at an earlv date. These
are industrious and law abiding
people and arc very desirable cit
isens. From a personal inter¬
view we learn that their
Ohio lands are selling for $100
per acre and that $30 is about
highest amount that can be clear¬
ed from an acre of ground per
ysar. The land which they are
buying here in Wayne, it is esti¬
mated, will produce from $50 to
$300 per year when properly cul¬
tivated.
