Reports of a bloody and fatal riot among negro politicians at YnZuo City readied here last night. Thursday the radicals of Yazoo County had a public speaking at Yazoo City, win: c a large number of negroes assembled lo hear what was said, and engage in the pow wow. One of the speakers, a notorious white radical named M rgau, in the course of his remarks, alluded to toe present state, ot taxes in Mississippi. He stated lhat the ih-mocrals charged that theliigli taxation had been caused by the republican administration in that ,'tntc. He denies that si eh was the ease, and asserted that the present rale of taxation w; sno higher than when the State was under democratic rule, which he had denounced In bitter terms. At this juncture a negro, who was doubtless under the Influence ol whisky, called Morgan a "liar.” Thereupon Morgan t ok pel sonul notice of lie re mark, and made use of rough language w liicli Induced ih,i negro to shout out: "You are a damned liar.” By the time the crowd had become very much ex cited, ami a negro radical tired a pistol at the negro who called Morgan -‘a damned liar." A general exchange of shots ihen took (dace ami the meeting f broke up In a big row. A notorious ! white i adieu I. Morgan, tin: speaker, whose angry words and in cendiary language actuated Hie negroes fo tile disturbance and fnial low, is a white ninn of infamous notoriety, and has lor a long while been Hie willing tool of antes and hi? radical party in Mis sissippi. It will lie remembered tlitp Morgan is the t; (Ileal senator tronithe Yazoo district, who married, now lias as liis wife, a tiinhuto woman, u 'ineil Higligale. P' r to say a lew words in favor of the Temper,in :e cause I do not behove that there is one, but what believes that it is light to be temperate, but the great dlfHoulty Is to get. men to prae lice it (Temperance.) Some people think, and say, that for a man to be temperate in the use of ardent spirits lie must drink some; now. if tlmr be true, a man must lie, swear a.id enm mit a little of all sins to be temperate. When a man drinks for his stomach's sake only, is he temperate? Ardent spirits may be a good medicine for some diseases, but not for every thing. Men never stop to think whether they need it or not, they drink it because they want it. They have acquired a taste lor it, and there is no telling what a man will do or say, when lie gets In the habit of drinking, in order to get it 1 knew a man once, who loved it so well that one day he killed a snake and told bis wife it had bitten lilm, that he might get some she had put tip for a special purpose; not long after that lie was luuml drowned in a branch.
