(LOYI RDALE PIC NIC.
Editor Times: I attended tho Sun
day school pic-nic at Cloverdalc last
Friday, and pronounco it, in most rc
spocts, a grand affair. The speech by
Prof. 1. Y. Wood was learned and
eloquent, and both instructive and
encouraging. The festive-board was
complete in both richness and j lofus
ion. The address of welcome, read
by Miss Mary Bible, was grand, and
finely delivered, especially did wo like
the nudiblencss with which it was
read. The “Invocation 5 ’ by Miss Mol
lio Tatnni was appropiiatc and beau
tiful, J. F. Bible's ringing appeal to
Voting men was well said. Rev. L.
N. Brock’s few humorous remarks
about dried pumpkins. Sam Jones,
etc., were well taken. Tho conduct
of the auditory was as good as I ever
saw, and is a good commentary on the
influence of the »S. S. work.

A little criteism in tlui riglit mannor
can do no barm:
1. The Coinmitteo on Arrnngiiicnts made b
great mistake in soloctHr.g gongs not com
monly Fling. Ouly two or throo persons
could sing soino of tho sdligs; and eolile
thought that it was thus arranged, that two !
or three might become conspicuous and secure j
double honors. Tbo name only ami not the
number of the song was announced; yet some
wero able to turn to them at once.
2. It was no special timo for eulogy oii
f ho Clovordala Sunday school as several
others woro roirosentcd, and ftonefnl princi
pals and matters of general interest only
should ho discussed.
3. A fellow should not bo so egotistical ns
to refer to iumsoi.f often, And especially as
“one of the primativo founders” of a S, S.,
wh> n tho founding of tho Sunday schoO)
reaches back to wlien ho wits a mere stripling
