s
We have just been informed that
Morgauvillo and vicinity will probably
organize a Military Company. Now,
it it is true that some of the young
men are militarily enclincd, wc would
suggest that as the movement that or
iginated at Trenton towards organiz
ing a company is not a local affair by
any means, it might be well enough
for tho different sections of Dade eoun
to unite their efforts to organize one
good compauy, which may contain
over eighty men, that would bo an
honor to our county. We hope this
will meet with a passing consideration
at least.

Something Foul.
A Horse Foud Dead with a Hole
shot through It,
Last Saturday as Esq. Jobe, this
place, came across Sand mountain he
was shown a fine, large horse that had
been shot through and killed. It was
just across tbe State lmo in Alabama,
oposite thia place. Tbe parties who
showed him tho horse report that they
heard a gun Hie and man holler at
tlm jdace "where the horso was found
on Thursday before. On Teusday be
fore a stranger was seen coming up the
oposite side of the mountain, at Moors
Gap on the horse* Several parties
limn near and about Carpenter station
weie out ot tho place the first of this
week searching after and investigating
the matter, but failed to dcvelo}>e any
thing more or anything as to tbeown
ersliip and identity of the horse The
matter beais something foul and dark
on its face, and to intensify it, it all
occurred in a vicinity that has and is
gaining an extensive notoriety for
such crimes and mysterious happen
ing. Lynching is anexteremo measure,
but there aro a few parties in that
community that hod either better
know more about such deeds or keep
them from being known at all. It
would not take near as much and as
strong evidence as is requited by law
to hang a man ns it vvovld for some
body in that vicinity to get their neck
stretched,
i Description of the Horso.
It was a dark bay color, a small star
in its forehead, about 15 or 10 hands
high, about eight years old, in tine
condition, and shod with steel toed
shoes. We the citizens of this cont
inuity will gladly answer any iuqtiiry
made relative to tho matter, and are
earnestly interested in ferreting out
and bringing the pcrpotratois to sine
justice, and earnestly solicit all law
abiding citizens to aid in the matter.
Notwithstanding the dark deeds that
have been committed iu this section
we have people here, that with the co
operation of the civil authorities, pro
pose to suppress such crimes in out
midst. Respect,, W. M. Allen.

A PROFITABLE DOG,
An exchange tolls of a man residing
on a line of a railroad who has taught
his dog to bark vociferously at every

fireman is to watch for the hacking

that he has deli vered at his door all
the coal he requires for his own trso

ing a coal yard foi tho supply of his

the reason why a certain dog at Wild

THE SCHOOL.
Them is a marked progress and suc

term of the school at this place. It is
with pleasure we note the manifested
interest of its patrons, and their lioarty
approval and endorsement of work

knows tho necessity in harmony and

one who has any interest whatever in
I such an institution at this place—has
a work that ho or Rhe can do towards
the fostering and building it up, Do
your part of tbe work, and the frculty
can accomplish its special and desired
part with far greater case and success.
Thoie is no such thing as a person’s
laboring with ease, comfort and, sel

well accepted and appreciated. That
everything will be done that will ab

probable, if possible. No one can
claim infaliability; but remember tlist
