The parade of the police and fire department took place Thurs day, and was w : Pressed by many thousand people. Both depart ments were beautiful equipped, and made the best showing as possible. The-engines, trucks, hose-carriages were cleaned up and made to ap- pear as though they had just left the shops. They were decorated with small blue flags bearing the letters “D. C. F. D” The police wore their new uniforms and back hats. The members of the police department forming the first di- vision of the parade assembled on K street, at 9:30 o’clock. They were formed into seven companies of infantry and one of cavalay, in command of Major Moore, with Captain Austin and Inspectors Swindell and Pearson as aide, eaclo of thorn being mounted. Carrie B, Sawyer, the celebrated materalizing medium, has been bolding so ances here for the last few days at 455 Missouri Avenue. She has not met the fate of many celebrated mediums; that is, she has not been exposed. On said land there is a fine stone two story mansion having somo eight rooms, hard finished within, and a large barn and other buildings.
