The Crops.
The different crops are needing
rain badly.
There bas been a few shovver3 but
not enough to do any good.
Oats are the worst off.
At present they will not average
twelve inches high by taking the
entire pountv. In this neighbor
hood they will not average six
inches. Umass one or two good
rains, come they will npt get )iigk
enough to out,
Wheat is also suffering for wan*
of rain and the rust.
We hear, a great many com
plaints of rust, It has attacked
the different varieties of it, but
what is known as the “beared” va
riety seems to be the least affected,
The corn crop is good and some
of it is well advanced. On aver
age it is good. However, there are
several complaint entered against
the hud worm.
There is not much cotton plant
ed, and two hundred bales will not
be raised in the entire county. A
larger area has been plante.d this
year than usual.
