Owrxsnoro, Ky., July 15.—Great
exeitement prevails at Owengboro
and throughout the surrounding
country on acesunt of the killing
of J. W. Lucasg, the jailer, and the
lynching of Richard May, colored,
for rape, last night. A mob of 200
men, supposed to have been or
ganized around Joneshoro' attack
ed the jail and demanded thai May
be given up. Lucas eundeavored to
convitice the moli that it would be
better to let the law take its course,
but they refused to Tisten to him
and insisted upon securing posses
gion of the negro.
The noise made by the inob at

A terrific explosiont of a boiler
occurred at the mill of W, H. Bo
bo at Fish Creck .on Tuesday of
last week, caused from soine de
éect. The boiler was a forty horse

in its path. Mr. J. A. Bobo was
