WILLIAMS DEAD. |
He Dies trom the Affects of the 1
Wounds recived at Felton
the sth of April.
- Wyatt Willams who was cut by‘
‘the Lee boys at Felton on the sth
of April, died from the affects of |
}the wounds on last Wednesday
night at 10 o’clock. Mr. Williams
was a resident of Buchanan at the
time he was cut, and had many
friends here who were very sorry
to hear of his death. Williams
was considered by a great many
people to be a very bad man,
you can't find a man but what he
will have some bosom friends; no
matter what his character may
be. So it was with Williams he
had friends who never deserted
him.
Messrs. Mos and Geo. Lee
are charged with the crime of
killing Williams. We know noth
ing against their character up to
the difliculty with Williams.
They are, at this writing un
dergoing a preliminary hearing
before Squire McEachern, Their
friends are putting forth every
honorable means to help them
through with their case.
As we stated last week Wil
liams was wounded twice in the
back, and once in the right breast
over the lung. The cut in the
breast is the one which proved fa
tal. Dr. J.T. Cobb of this’ placeJ
was Williams’ physician after he
was ghurt, and pronounced the
wound in the breast a fatal one
from the time he first examined
it. :
Mr. Mos Lee, the elder of the
trio, is of medium size; black hair
dark brown eyes, and weighs 145
Ibs. age, 23 years. Geo. Lee is
slender made; light hair, eyes of
gray color, a prominent forehead,
hight about b feet; weight 130 or
135 pounds. Green Lee, who is
charged with hitting Williams
with a rock while the row was in
progress, is heavy built, weighing
about 150 or 155 pounds, light hair, eyes
of blueish color; full forehead and a full
face, age 19 years,
The counsel on both sides are making
a strong fight. The state is represented
by Messrs. S. L. Craven, Lloyd Thomas
and M. J. Head; the defense by Messrs.
! Price Edwards, J. M. Me¢Bride and J. A.
Blance. We will give the result of the
investigation next week.
Mr. A. D. McEachern who lives
three miles east of Buchanan
recieved a telegram last Saturday
evning of the death of his aged
father, Mr. A. McEachern, who
lived in Cleburne county, Alaba
ma. Mr. McEßachern was 81 years
old at the time of his death, and
had been suffering from that
dreadful disease cancer for several
years, which finally vroved fatal. |
He has been a resident of Cleburne
county for nearly 34 years, and
will be greatly missed by those who
new him best. He had been a
prominent member of the Metho
dist church for over 60 years, and
was concious of every thing up
even to the last. He was a promi
nent Mason and was buried with
Masonic honors near Pleasant Hill
Methodsst church. We greatly
sympathize with our friend and
neighbor in the loss of his aged
father.
