h * grim monster, death, has
aguin visited our community and
seized as its vietim, Mrs, Cora A.
Yaupcy, wife of Mr. J. A, Yaney
and danghter of Mr. A. J. Hunt.
Mrs. Yancy died at her fyther's
home a few miles north of town
last Friday, May 30th., and one
of the saddest funerals ever wit
nessed in Buchanan, was that of
Mrs. Yancy ow last Saturday at
1 o'clock. Mrs. Yaney was born
i\'ov.\:,_l’?th, 1868, married Feb.
2ud, 1800, died May 30th, 1890.
Mrs, Yaney was a loving and obe
diefildau‘ghter, a trueand an af
fectionate wife. On May the 28th
she called the family around her
and said she wanted to kiss them
and tell them geood bye. She
hugged and kissed her father,
then her husband, then her moth
er, then sisters and next her
brothers to whom she talked ten or
fiifteen minutes telling them to
take the adviee she gave them
then and that she had always giv
en them, as she always gave them
good advice. She also told them
that if they would take their
mother's advice it would ecarry
them to Heaven, as her advice had
carried her to Heaven's gate.
When asked if she had any choice
as to were she wanted to be bur
ied she said that she wanted to be
Thurfed at*Brichanan; as that grave
yard was the only one in the com
munity that was well cared for.
Her father asked her whom she
wished to preach her funeral,
she said Elders A. G. Upshur and
T. W. M. Brown; he also asked
Ler if she wanted to be buried in
her silk dress? She said: ‘‘No, my
wedding dress,”” ‘““and ma,”’ she
said: “I want you to take my
large gold ring that pa gave me,
to remember me, and the small
one he gave me and the two rings
and breast pin that my husband
gave me, I want to wear when I
am buried.” She said, ““if I was
able I could wash and dress my
self for the burial.” She said,!
“tell Mr. Low, A. D. Whitton tmd}
A. J. Bradshaw and all of my
brethren that I want them tol
meet me in Heaven, for they huve‘\
led me to Heaven. On the 30th
just before she died she called her‘
farther and mother to her, hugged
and kissed them, saying: ‘They
think lam going to play the or
gan, but I am going to play some
thing sweeter than an organ. I
am gaing to play the golden
harp,”’ moving her hands and fin
gers as thongh she was playing an
instrument. During Mrs. Yan
icy’s severe illness she was ever
sarronnded by a large number of
friends and her father, mother
and husband were ever watching
over her and never did she show
the least sign of excitement, or
shed a tear during her sufferings.
Three of the best physicians in
the country exhausted all their
skill to save her life, but it was
all of no avail. ‘‘She said tell the
family not to weep for me.” The
husband and family have the
heartfelt sympathy of their many
friends in this their sore bereave
auent. A Friexp. .
