Next Monday will be tlio Ordinary’s reg¬
ular court-day, and tor this reason he re¬
quests that applicants wait until Tues¬
day, or some subsequent day, before fil¬
ing their papers. When tiie work of ex¬
amining tho papers and attesting appli¬
cations begins it will take his entire time,
and he will have no opportunity for the
performance of this agreeable duty on
court day. It will be well to state in ad¬
vance that all papers must be attested by
the Ordinary. Those attested by Justi
ecs of the Peace or Notaries Public will
not be recognized. In other words, no
official except the Ordinary is qualified
to attest the affidavits either of appli¬
cants or witnesses.—Ncwnan Herald.

Unless there is a change in our meth¬
ods of farming, and more attention paid
to food crops, Gabiiel might as well
blow his horn now. Just think of corn
selling at si.10 for cash and £1.25 on
1 hue, and cotton only 7c. per pound! AP.
the Alliances and labor union orgnniza
turns in tiie country can’t save the fami¬
ers unless they raise more bread and
meat at home. As a rule, our duellings
are too far removed from our corn-cribs
and smoke-houses. There ought to be
some concert of action among the farm¬
ers, by which larger and more extensive
grain crops shall ho raised in the future.
Long-winded arguments and seductive
theories don’t make bread—it takes laud
and labor to do it.
When a farmer lias corn in his crib and
meat in his smoke-house lie is indepen¬
dent and loves everybody. I hope tiie
farmers will take warning from their ex¬
perience of last year and plant more corn
and less cotton this year. Remember,
there is already more cotton than money'.

I learn from anthropology, Grecian as¬

history that in tho days of yore there
was a disease that was very destructive
that Esculopius, the God of our older is
even understood tlio pathology and many
of his royal descendants of the 19th cent

ladder of renown, and they too have fail¬
ed to discover a panacea, notwithstand¬
ing they have made their mark that
time will never obliterate and millions
yet unborn will laud their worthy names
whose aspirations are lucrative and self
agrandizing. I will instance a few cases:
Asher, the first wing; Nimrod, the Sec¬
ond, who w as the founder of idolatry; Ni
nus, who shed the blood of his own dear
mother for the throne; Arbacese, who
caused the revolt of the ten tribes; Dani
ous the Mede who signed tho decree that
cast Daniel into the lions'den, and many
otheres too tedious to mention were all
destroyed by this loathsome disease. It

causing slight amonrosis; egotistic wings
