“Grand Father Howard.'*
Ed. Banxkb-Messknorb.—I want a
little apace in your paper to note tbe
death of grand father, old Jimmie How¬
ard, who departed this life July the 20th,
1801. His death war caused by the falling
of a stump. It fell ou him while he was
fishing. I suppose it killed him instant¬
ly. He leaves many friends and relatives
to mourn his loss. He was a good old
man and was thought well of by every¬
body wbo knew him. Ho was not a mem¬
ber of any church though he lived ns
strict as any of the church members. He
was as harmlera as a doll. He attended to
his own business and bothered no one.
He was as attentive to his Bible as any
one of the chnrch members, and I believe
if there was ever a man that went th^brd tflprc est
ho is one that is gone. I believe
prepai e 1 a place for him and called him
home to heaven. I boliove if every¬
body would live like he lived they would
do well hereafter. I Sliink they would
have a happy homo forever. He lived a
happy life but died an awful death.
There was no one present to hear him
or to see him in his dying hours. He
might have talked some, but no one heard
him but God luniself. When he started
oil that evening thoy all tried to get
him to not go, but he told them that ho
would go a few minutes to see if ho could
catch a fish, and so he went on down to the
branch where he had his fish hook set out
and they never thought any more about
him until it was getting dark. When
uncle Ab Howard happened to think of
him he asked Ida little girl if her grand
father had come and she told him that he
had not, and undo Jell Howard heard
diem say that he had not come and he
star ted to see about him. Ho went just
as straight to him as if ho knew where ho
was. He found him lying just a ’ittlo up¬
on his right side with his left hand lying
ou his breast near his heart and his right
hand near his right shoulder in cold
deatli.
Grand father Howard was born June
2flth, ISIS, and died July 20tb, 1891, which
made him 73 years old.
Mr. Editor, this is a big undertaking for
me, as this is the first that I ever wrote
for the Banner-Messenger, being ns I
am quite young my writing is sorry. I
am ID years of age.
Cathrine Howard.

This is to certify that I have been afflict
ed with Scrofula, or Blood Poison, for a
number of years. The best physicians of
Mobile and this city said nothing could
be done for me. I also took a large quan¬
tity of-, but found no relief in any¬
thing that l took. My limbs were a mass
of ulcers, and was sent to a physician in
Mobile my body was a mass of sores. I
had given up all hope, and as a last resort
tried P. P. P. (Prickly Ash, Poke Root
and Potassium), and after using four bot¬
tles (small size) the sores have entirely
disappeared, aud my general health was
never better than at the present time,
