Rev, II. D. Hutcheson lias just return¬
ed from a visit to the “Pan Handle” of
Texas. He says that is a fine country,
and that if he was a young man he would
settle there.
A three-year-old child of Mrs. Sarah
Wells, who lives near Kelley’s saw mill,
fell out at a door last Friday and disloca¬
ted its right hip. Dr. Cobb was called in
Monday and placed it back It was not
thought to be so badly hurt at first.

Dr. J C. Edmondson, of Waco, gave
us a very pleasant call Tuesday. The
doctor says ho is well pleased with the
work on the new court house, and that it
is a mistaken idea to think that any part

man of sound judgement, who says he is
willing to pay tax to have such a court
house built as is now going up in Buch
anan.

There was a mistrial of the Hollis case
which came off Tuesday, Mr. Hollis
was indited by the grand jury at then
last session for vagrancy, and we learn
that eleven of the jury before whom he
was tried stood for conviction and one
for acquittal. The jury was kept housed
up near twenty four hours, being up all
night Tuesday night, and bailiff Johns
says the flees came very near consuming
him.

We recommend H. L. Brooks be paid
two dollais and fifty cents for the use of
horse in serving subpoenas.
We recommend Dr, J. T. Cobb to treat
the prisoners of the jail and that he re¬
ceive for his services seventy eeuts per

receive one dollar and fifty cents per day
