A New Firm.
A new firm, styled Woodly & Co., have
rented the Holcombe building in which
they will place a full stock of dry goods
and groceries soon. Buchanan is looking
up.
The young men of this place will or¬
ganize a debating society at the Baptist
church Saturday, p. m., at 8 o’clock. All
arc invited to come out and take part—
old and young.
Mr. J. J. Crumbley, of Goshen, Tenn.,
was in to see us one day this week. lie
will locate in Atlanta shortly to finish up
his medical course. He brought with
him a fine- thorough bred Tennessee
horse, which ho is offering for sale.

open up a furniture store where the drug

Sheriff Johnson took a trip out about
Centre, Ala., last week. He came back
with two prisoners, one Wyly Parish and
a negro woman. He lias five prisoners
in jail. Says hornet with some mighty
clever people in Alabama.
Mr. S. M. McDonald, a prominent-farm¬
er of near Drakctown, was in town Mon¬
day. Mr. McDonald says he will bring
his cotton to Buchanan if the buyers will

Miss Ella Cadle, of Poplar Springs,
came before School Commissioner G. D.

Mr. Jas. W. Harris now lives, then Car

Goggans was doubtless the last survivor
in this whole country of the Revolution
wan Wm. Goggans was Mr. George
Goggans grand father, who lives near
Poplar Springs in this county, and who
was 74 years of age last Sunday. Though
an old man himself, he has more than
twenty years to live to get as old as his
grand father was at his death.

has located in Chattanooga, liis services
are npt entirely lost to our people, as lie
has associated himself with his brother.

Mr. Charlie Ward and his sister, Miss
Manic, of Jacksonville, Ala., are visiting
their uncle, Mr. T. J. Lovvless.
The stock law election that came off in
Drakctown district last Thursday resul¬
ted in 05 for stock law and 59 for fence.
The election is being contested by the
fence men.
