YES; WHY NOT?
Mu. Editor. —I have given this finan¬
cial question, that is disturbing the
aneo and causing them so much trouble,
considerabl thought in the last few days.
I have studied o\it a plan by which,
think, immediate relief can be brought
about, and that in a very short time.
The plan is this: Have Col. Livingston
to order the Alliance in this, the 7th Con¬
gressional District, to meet at once in
Rome, or some other place in the Ris
trict, turn out the Hon. R. W. Everett,
keep him out of Congress, and then let
the Alliance, every man of them; yes let
the women and all the little ones, con¬
centrate on me and send me by their
great Alliance power in great haste to
Congress with positive orders, and with
all the necessary power to do the work,
and'I will at onto have issued to each
man wonin and child in this District ten
thousand dollars per capita. If I see
that this is not enough msule of thirty
days thereafter, I will have added live
thousand dollars more, making the sum
for each man, woman and child in the
District fifteen thousand dollars. This
sum of money is not to be, nor shall it
be, loaned on land mortgages, nor
ing, ground peas, nor nothing that the
Alliance . nave. , T Iftiieygive , ,, . to me the
necessary power, 1 will flood the
with the necessary amount of money to
do the business for this District. The
amount. 1 suggest above Ido not think is
too large. If the 4 Alliance meets and de
clarcs a vacancy in this District, and con
centrate on me, and give me the power to
do so, I will leave at once for Washing¬
ton, D. C. and I will have this amount
sent at once to catch one of my constitu
ents in the District. If the Alliance will
carry'into effect what I herein suggest,
they shall, each and eveiy one of them
have the amount of monev herein stated
And I further promise them that they
shall have the same without any interest
at all.
It is not rafcy't for the govternment to
charge two per cent for money loaned to
the farmers. They should have wliat
they wish without any interest at all.
They should not be allowed to mortgage
their property to the government, nor to
banks, nor to individuals. They should
have what money they wish without bind¬
ing their crops in any way, and let it be
non redeemable an if they send me
Congress in Mr. Everett’s place I will
to it that it never gets into the United
States Treasury. My constituents shall
hold every dollar of it, and if necessary,
I will send each one more money, A'ou
see if I go to Congress In the place of Mr.
Everett, I intend to give relief that my
constituents need, and they need it now
at once. If the Alliance rnd all tlie oth¬
er good citizens in the district will do
what I suggest above, I will,, and do
promise them to carry into effect my Fi¬
nancial herein setfortli.
Now, if they wish immediate relief,
they must get to Avork and bring about
tlie vacancy that I suggest, for without a
vacancy I can not give the relief that is
so much needed, and ought to be grant¬
ed at once. You kyaftf that we have had
tAvo very short sessions of the Legisla¬
ture. Avery large majority of them was
the best goods the Alliance cotild pro
duce, and they Uave'.AtfAvn that they arc
j„ favor of an increase of the circulation
()f raoney . They have increased our tax
e& f] . om ;lboafc $4 ou tlie thousand to
thousand. V ^ this .
^ 011 t l je ou see m
crease of circulation is tlie hard earnings
0 f the poor farmer. It is taken from
t h,, m ,,, the way of taxes and put into
circulation. Ido not know when ,
will get it back. 1 he chances aie au,
bad—not very favorable, but you
all the work of the Alliance
racy. I ores nine that they are all satis
tied. „ j _ It t for . the , purpose A to , aid the ,
is
payers in the payment of this heavy
NUMBER UL
that I offer my services to brim,' about
this immediate relief. I see liochnnco
for immediate relief except in my finan
system heioin setfortli. It looks to
me that my financial policy should bo
ver .V popular with the Alliance, and I
expect themin at once to proceed to
mako the vacancy so that I can give them
the relief they 80 much desire and ought
to have.
