Much has been said by our Latham
correspondent of information from Mr
Tom Burden or, the production of tur
nips. We had occasion to see Tom a few
days ago, and when asked his mode of
raising turnips of enormous sizes, he
would only answer: “Catch them by
their tops arid raise them straight up
wards.” But it seemed that there was
something else behind the scenes that
I om did not wish to make known, We
would like for “Amika” to reveal that
“grave objection of picking the salad.”
This is the great question that confronts
the correspondents and those who wish
to raise turnips.

There are some people who preach one
thing and practice another. This has. to
my certain knowledge been xamplified
right here in Buchanan, and these are
men who protest that they love nothing
but right, that they love a certain tiling
because it is so much like the Savior;
these men are the ones who attack a man
of reputed character when they them¬
selves are three times worse. These
men are to be pitied.

With three candidates in the field, the
democrats will nominate a good mail for
governor, Litlier one of the three would
make Georgia a noble governor, Can
dler, so far, seems to be in the lead, but
it matters not which one is nominated,he
will receive the support of the majority
of the democrats. Every one a1h> fails
to support the nominee is no democrat
and is a traitor to his party. We will
see the democratic banner waving in the
air again next November. It is
for other parties to try to defeat
democratic party, the only true
white rnau’s party.

the woods for the purpose of improving
the cattle range. She went out about 1
o’clock during the absence of her son,
James Fuller, with whom she resided.
Her absence on Mr. Fuller’s return at
sundown excited his fears and upon
making search found her lifeless body at
the foot of the mountain, where it is
supposed to have rolled from the preci¬
pice top above. Her clothing had been
burnt entirely from her charred body.
She was 65 years old.
