Capt. W. Smith, the gallant

last weeek to raise a company of
immune volunteers has already
enlisted about 50 of as good men
as ever ‘ houldered a gt.D .
Capt. Smite says he will finish
bis command this week and that
he will at nice notify Col. Ray.
the commander of the regiment
and that, his rqen will be prompt
ly examined and ordered to Ma

Col. Ray's regiment will be
quartered in Macon and will there
be mustered in as the 3 d Reg
iment United States Volunteers.
The regiment will be composed of
fair companit b each from South
Carolina. Georgia and Florida.
Those men under Col. Ray will
be among the fir.-t troops to b
ordeied to Cuba. Cant Smith says
