Amos Perry and Andrew Forbes
•were playing with a pistol, it was
accidently discharged so it is re
ported, and Perry was shot in the
stomach. It is thought the ball
passed through the bowels The
extent of the injury has not been
learned . Both parties are colored.
No arrest made as yet.

A great fire is raging here. The
loss may reach between $150,000
and $200,000. The waterworks
have given out and the flames
are beyond control.
The fire originated in John
son’s gin mill which burned.
The handsome Methodist church
has gone up in smoke and many
residences are on fire.

After a long and painful illness,
the spirit of Mrs. Oscar Harris
quietly slipped, its moorings at 11
o’clock this forenoon, and winged

Mrs. Harris was the daughter
of Mr. Robt. McKinney, of the
Fourth ward and the wife of Mr.
Oacar Harris, She leaves a sorrow
