While money seems to be stamp
ing towards the reserve fund in
the New York banks, I have notic
ed a crying demand for the “stuff 4 *
in Rome. I h ar ! a good man say

weeks I have bewa trying to borrow
|1,250. I offered central property
assessed at $5,000 and always oc
cupied with a paying tenant, and
wanted to take the money for two
or three years at 8 per cent —Anri
I cant find it.“ Now thats a pret
ty state of affairs, when in the
North, money is going begging at
three per cent for good invetmeuts.

The fallowing special dispatch
from the Uonatit-ution's correspon
dent at Newnan, Mr. Atkinson 4 *
home, was received late Tuesday
night, but in the rush incident to
“making up” a crowded paper was
inadvertently omitted from yes
terday 4 ! Constitution’.
Newnan, Ga , Janaary 31. (Spe
dal.) The Constitution's editorial
of yesterday, advising Hon. W. Y.
Atkinson to withdraw from the
gubernatorial race was read with
a good deal es amusement by hie
friends here. The general imprest
sion among Mr. Atkinson's friends
is that The Constitution is trying
to make a brave show of strength
far its candidates in order to con
ceal his real weakness, and that
its anxiety ta get Mr. Atkinson
out of the way is not assumed.
Your correspondent called on Mr.
Atkiason this morning to know if he
desired to make any comment upon
The Const!'ution’o edtiorial. He was
busy with his campaign correspond
ence and had not sees the article.
When pointed out to him he read it
over carefully and looking up with
an amused smile remarked:
‘‘Extend my compliments to the
• ’Lorand auggest to him the prop
riety of saving his advice for his own
candidate; that I cannot allew Gen
Evan s managers to direct my cam
paign. I believe the people are
with me in my race, and thus encour
aged will try to get along without
the support of The Constitution and
the] Atlant* politicians. Latter on I
expeet go to before the people, and
we shall then see whether there are
any issues in this campaign worth
the attention of the honest voters oj
Georgia. “
Mr. Atkinson has * number of in
vitations to speaks but has not as } t
appointed a date for opening his
