FIRST M E. CHURCH SOUTH.
The large aud’itoriambeing filled
with a cultivated congregation,
who gave the closest of attention,
to the pastor, Rev, Gibson, while
he spoke earnest and eloquent

of the Lord that spake unto her,

The sermon was logical and
convincing, as we'l as v* ry into -
esiing throughout, and is (Jestiipd
to do much good.
In the evening Another large

clemant weather, heard a beautifu l
appeal to “Give thanks uiPo
God” by Dr. Gibson, who took for
his text. Psalms xcn 1 to 9 verses.
The music at this church yester
day-was very fine. The bass solo by
Mr. C. H. Cothran “Ashamed of
Jesus” bringing tears to the eyes of
many.
Professor Thompson, the musi
cial Director is to be congratulated
securing such an excellent Choir,
though it is to be regretted that
owing to a change of residence, the
rich bass of Mr. Cothran will no
longer charm the ear of the T.o
mans.
AT THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH,

gations yesterday. the morning
hour Dr. Headden took for his text
“The Parable of the Talents” from

ceived much favorable comment

fication of his hearers yesterday,

services, Rev. Soloman Pope, the
talented son of Mr. H. B. Pope,
who is preparing to join the North
Georgia Conference, preached an
doquent sermon. His topic was
•‘Christian Sympathy” and his
congregation f videnced their ap
preciation < f his discourse by the
numerous congratulations which
he received.
