Mrs. Japew y was present at the

I regret having to chronicle the
assignment of th« well known and
popular house or W. M. Gammon
A Ce., Rome’s Veteran clothiers.
Mr. Mell Gammon stated to me
this afternoon that the assignment
was brought about by the failure
of some of the firm’s patrons, and
the extreme dullness of trade. No
one was pressing the firm, but
Mr Gammon felt that the best in
terests of his house would be served
and the creditors of the firm best
protected, by an assignment, Capt
R. G. Clark is named as assignee
and everything that belongs to
the firm is in his hands for the
benefit of the creditors.
