THE “banner county” to be con
gratulated if RUMOR is right.
It was rumored on the streets to
dav that Jake C. Moore, the best
sheriff in Georgia, would accept
the office of Chief Deputy Marshal
for tn a State of Georgia and move
to Atlanta.
The Hustler of Rome failed to
find the popular Sheriff in time to
verify the report, but line eleven
tenths of the people of Floyd
county we rejoice over the possi

For several weeks Mr. Moore
has be«n “sick enough to go to

awkwardness” as it were, has re

with the able assistants of Depu

Old “Unde Lige“ whose real

West Rome at the advanced age of
101 years. Uncle Lige was one of
the faithful. Many white people
knew him, loved him, Jived out
their days and died leaving him,
here to continue his fight When
the summons came for him to join
the majority, it found him ripe
into the harvest. His aged remains
were laid to rest today. Peace to

Capt. Tom Lyons,, of Carters

this forenoon. Capt. Lyon claims
that Bartow will go for Evans
“fifty to one” and he goes further
and claims Floyd by a big vote.—
He says he bases his opinion very
strongly on what Major Zack Har
