With last night, the series of
protracted meet iugs conducted at
the First Churches, terminated at
the First Methodist Church. The
three series have dene much good
in this city. I believe that the First
Presbyterian recieved’twenty-four
new members into its fold. The
First Baptist recieved seventeen,
fourteen by experience and five by
letter, while the First Methodist
gathered to the fold fourteen, nine
by letter and five by profession of
faith .

Mr. John Mills, one of Everett
Spring’s best farmers, was in the
city today. Mr. Mills is one of
those planters who believe that
toe farmer should “live at home
tiid board at the same place,” and
he does if. Mr. Mills has stored
away at ins home, a bale of cotton
that be saved from his crop of
1866 and though the cotton is ac
ually twenty-eight years old it
looks bright and fresh. When
it was raised cotton was worth
about 40 cents, now it is aboqt 7
