and two small dwelling houses. A
large refrigerator building and office
owned oy the Swift Beer Company is
a total loss. The lire started in the
paint shop in the car works. Thore
are indications of inceuditrism.

his body today and the jury returned
a veodict that he was shot to death
by parties .unknown. Two or three
days ago he without provocation, as

A Clark, who is now at the point ol
death..

dustry, and a novel one it is. This
morning my friends , Dr. Crouch
aid Bud McArver decided that
they would like to go fishing, but
as the earth is so dry they found
it impossible to get fish bait. Then
it was that John J. Mickle, of the
city of East Rome, spake, and in
formed the fishermen of his young
li-n-worm ranch in East Rome. He
was awarded the contract and in
an hour’s time, toad a couple of
gallons of fresh dug worms —as
pretty as the famed “Early bird”
ever feasted on —delivered into the

property levied on by the Mayor and
Council of the city of Rome for the
ilscnl year of 1894 and 1895 is at the
rife of one and and-fifth of one per
cent on the taxable value. Attei tion
is called to the following' sectioi & of
the taxable ordinance.

the preceding sections of this ordi
nance shall be required to be paid,
one half on or before the 15ta, day
of June, IH9I, and the other half ©n
or before the 15 th, day of Septem
ber, 1891, and the entire amount of
taxes being hereby declared due at
•be time of levy, may be p 1 id on or bv
tl e first named date—the making of
this tax payable in two installments
being only for the arc - mmodation
and convenience of the taxpayers
who desire to avail themselves of
this privilege.
