THE GEORGIA ALLIANCE.
I'he Georgia State Alliance it
in session in th is city.
The President, Hon. Felix Cor
pu*. and the members and officers
of the State Exchange were in see
sicn yesterday and last night
They have decided on going out
of business —selling the exchange
aud its property and holding the
money for future direction. Tl a
value of the assets is estimated, we
understand, at $35 000, and ihe
loss within the five years at
170,000.
The alliance is anxious to unloi d
itself of that publication known
as the Living Issues, and Colonel
P <ek has beeu getting legal ad
vice com ruing same.
They want to put the paper
where it will stand or. its own bot
tom, and where it will not be a
drain on the alliance treasury to
keep it on its feet.
The president of the National
Alliance was to have made a
speech today but failed to put in
an appearance and Rev. 8. A.
W alker, of McDuffie, was put up
m his stead.
No one would have recognized
it as an alliance speech. He stated
at the outset thatjhe did not belong
to any party but before he got
through he was preachipg straight
third party doctrine. The speech
was full of inconsistencies and
was a disappointment.
There are sixty- one in attendance,
representing fifty-two counties those
present are highly pleased with their
treatment at the bauds of the Dub
fin citizens, and are loud in their
praises of the hospitality of our pec—
