)4 1 1 am the nominee of iron-
bound, steel-ribbed, rock-bottom
Democrats. I have been a prodigal
in the past and wandered off, but,
thank God, I have got back home
at last. lam back in the Demo
-3 cratic party to stay and I feel
comfortable in being back.” “Who
e . nominated Everett anyhow?”
lg It was a skew-balled convention;
he was put out by sub-alliance, a
.j. secret order, a dark lantern crowd.
8 where they had to pay 25 cents for
, n a whispered pass-word to get to
g . sling a vote. God save my occupa
tion as a father when it peters un
til it required 25 cents to Im* paid
U for the honor of casting his vote.”
c The Doctor then compared them
to the Know-Nothing party, Span
ish inquisition and the Star Cham'
ber of England. “My fellow-citi
’) zensainit you ashamed to belong to
such an order. If I was you J
v would quit it.”
Then continued the Doctor:
‘‘These sub-treasury fellows
!H wxant to get in office. If you ask
t them if they are in favor of free
d coinage, they will say I am for the
. sub-treasury or something better..
r If you ask them if they want more
) greet hacks, they say lam for the
- su’b-treasury or something better.,
o “JI you ask them if they want,
it more gold, they reply they are for
g I the sub-treasury or something bet
,l tar. That is their cry.. The sub
treasury bill would fill this oexm
try with a swarm of President
Harrison’s appointees, like the lo
custs of Egypt to devour your
; substance. It is absurd and un
democratic. It would make the
poor farmer poorer ami the rich
j man richer. It would corner wheat,
oats and corn in those warehouses
|in the West and raise the price of
flour, &C., imposing burdens upon
the laboring people of this country
and make the government a pawn
ferxdker.
! “The Norway rats would nest in
the warehouses and carry off the
wheat and the government would
he the loser.”
Thus spoke Dr. Felton in 1890.
Now in 1894 he accepts the third
I party nomination for Congress,
swallows the Omaha plalform,
sub-treasury, Norway rats and all.
Can you vote for such a flopper?
We should think not.—Marietta

Twin Brothers..
Economy and wisdom are twin Urotbem.
There are thousandsand thousands of mer
chants, mechanics, laboring men, farmers,
stock raisers, physicians, lawyers, and others
located In cities, towns and pointe near the
post-office who want to keep posted about
all that is going on the world over. They are
interested In the political campaigns through
; out the country, the markets, the conditions
of labor, the industries, society, dfuly hap
penings, and all that goes to make ’.he news
of the day. For Instance, they were deeply
Interested in the recent coal and railroad
, strikes. They can get this news only through
the columns of a great metropolitan news
paper, which costs 30 cents a week. This they
feel is beyond their means; they do not want
to make so much of an outlay. They must
have the news in order to keep abreast
of the times. Here is where economy an<T.
wisdom combine. The Cincinnati Commer- ■
clal Gazette Is one of the greatest newspapers
in the world. From its daily Issues Is taken
the cream of the news for the Cincinnati .
Gazette, which is now published twice a i
week. It is a paper worth sl4 a year dally,
but is now sent twice a week at only one dol
lar a year. It is the poor man's great news
paper. It will reach you on the days of pub
lication, and serves the purpose of a dally.
