“HOTSTUFF.”
Solicitor Georee R. Brown ofthe
Blue Ridge Circuit
ROASTS GLENN & MADDOX
Says They Form a Union of all
That is low, Vulgar, mean
And Contemptableana
Maddox is a Liar by
Birth and Training.
Solicitor George R. Brown ie
out m oue of the etrongeet and red
hottest articles ever penned by n
Georgian, in which he roasts the
very “seat of hatred” in the bos<>m
of Gl°nn ct Maddox of Atlanta.
The article is sandwiched with
ajuuriiber of affidavits backing up
ihe statements it contains, and is
flavored of indignation, long pent
hut which breaking its barriers
sweeps down on the foul calumni
ators with an overwhelming fury.
Ilere is the closing of the arti
cle :
“Two or three affidavits have
been published from men who state
that they heard one Elbert Falls
and one Webb Kincaid say that I
agreed to help them to secure small
fines against Falls and against or e
Grant Plowman, in considerate n
of their support for Hon. W, Y«
Atkinson for governor.
I state most positively and em
phatically that I had no such con
versation, understanding or agree
ment with these men or either of
them, directly or indirectly and
the charge, so far as it relates to
myself, is wholly and uncoudi
tiouly false.
The evidence that has been pro
duced is, at most, heresay, evi
dence. I will be attacked by
bushwhackers no longer. If 1 am to
be assasinated, it shall be in an
open field and a fair fight. The
public shall know who my accus
ers are, Their faces shall be uu
jpasked , and I shall stand before
my calumniators face to face.
The men who are responsible
directly or indirectly for all that
has been said shout him iu the At
lauta Gazette, says Mr. Brown, are
W. C. Glenn and C D. Maddox.
Then follows a most scathing
denunciation of these two men.
“Time and space would fail me in
an effort to portray the unfathomable
depths of rascality to which these
men have descended. The English
language is inalequate to give them
the full measure of their deserts*
Two more infamous, dastardly assas
sins never disgrued a civilized com
munity, or dishonored one of the
learned professions of this state.”
Among the other things he says
of them are the following ; “It is a
union of all that is low, vulgar,
mean contemtible in human nature
As a monumental liar, C. D. Mad
doX glands without a rival in this
state. He is a liar by birth educa
tion and training. Me is not only
an habitual liar and notorious
perjurer, but his moral depravity
is only equalled by the imbecility
of his mind.
In conclusion, Mr. Brown says:
“I brand these men and each of
them being political bushwhackers
personal cowadds and constitu
tional liars. If this denunciation
is severe, it is because the tacts are
true. ,‘Tis nature’s picture too
severely true.”
