It strikes me that the reports be
ing sent out from the Treasury de
partment at Washington about
Floyd county’s proposed bond is
sue, are being flavored by Wall
Street heelers and National Bank
influences. The object of this is to
discourage the timid among our
citizens and defeat the measure at
the polls on election day.
* *
*
This would suit the money mon
opolists of the East—and the earth
for that matter. It would dispose
of a problem that, once solved by
the people, will work the over
throw of these grinding tyrants.
•*•
If Floyd county wishes to issue
interest bearing bonds of SI,OOO
each, who is there to say her nay?
And if these SI,OOO interest bear
ing bonds can’t be negotiated then
would they be issued?
* *
Then what’s the matter with
making the face of the bond $1 and
issueing one thousand of them?
Doesn’t it put it within reach of the
masses? Or is it to be only a priv
ilege of the rich, this holding and
owning of a fellow’s own county’s
bonds.
» *»
The trouble of this whole busi-!
ness has been in some one mooting
the question of ■‘for local circula
tion. ” Had we gone into the elec
tion and 'issued the bonds and
‘‘kept ohr mouths shot” the e
money kings of the earth who
guard so jealously their monopoly
on the country’s money, would
never have said a word. I am in
favor of the bonds, the small d<«
nomination bonds, and I fail to
see how in the name of common
sense, honesty and ordinary decen
cy, any government can dare lay
the iron hand of her tax gatherer
upon one dollar’s worth of them.

SYMPTOMS OF I
CHRONIC CATARRH.
As Described by Dr. Hartman, one
of the Greatest Authorities and
Writers on Catarrh.
The symptoms of chronic catarrh
vary according to tho stage and ex
act location of the disease. The
first stage of ca'arrh of the nose
and head produces discharge from
the nose, sneezing, pain in the eyes
»nd forehead,weak, and sometimes
watery eyes, occasionally loss of
memory. In the 'ast stage the dis
charge ceases and dry. offensive
scabs foim in the nose; polypi
growths sometimes form in one or
both nostrils, and the pain in the
head and eyes is much less. Unless
omethiug is done to prevent, the
catarrh will follow the mucous
membrane into the lungs, where it
will be followed by cough, night
sweats, rapid toss of fl“sh, and
other dread symptoms of consump
tion
Pe-ru-na is a specific for every
case of catarrh, whether the dis
ease is located iu the lungs, kid
ney or stomach. The dose of Pe
ru-na should be a large tablespoon
full before each meal and at bed
timu. Women and some delicate
men should begin with a tea
spoonfull, and slowly and gradual
ly increase to the above full dose.

Richburg, Ky., October 23.
White caps, acting in unison with
an improvised whipping post last
night, succeeded in ridding this
community of Joe Mathews, a farm
hand.
When Mathews came here he
was accompanied by a young (girl
of about 14 years, whom |he gave
out was his sister, but people as
serted that she was his niece and
that her name was Sarah Dudley.
It was discovered that improper
relations existed.
The girl was almost an imbecile.
Mathews was notified to leave the
neighborhood. He asserted that
he would pay no attention to the
notice. Last night about 11 o’clock
eight ina-ked men rode up to his
house and called him to the door.
He was taken in a semi-naked
condition to the nearest gate post,
where he was strung up and a
sound thrashing administered.
When in an almost insensible con
dition he was cut down and warn
ed to leave at once, which he pro
ceeded to do. He has not beeri seen
since. Some charitably disposed
