China’s Silver Loan.
New i,York, November 7.—The
New York agent of the Hong Kong
and Shanghai banking corporation
in London confirms the announce
ment made by cable that the bank
is issuing a Chinese Government
silver loan for Shanghai taels 10,-
900,000, at 98, bearing 7 per cent
interest for 20 years, repayable in
10 equal installments, beginning
1904, secured by the Chinese cus
tom revenue. The list of applica
tions closes in London on the 7th
inst.; the bonds are for Shanghai
taels 500 each, and are issued at
exchange of three shillings per
tael.

house of an Indian named Sih.a
Washington, and fired volley af
ter volley into it, killing Washing
ton, his wife and mother. Officers
are at w'ork on the case.
