An explanation of the term “hay
fever” is going the rounds of the
press. An Ohio editor says that
I hav fever is caused by kissing grass
widows. An lowa editor thinks it
is caused by kissing a hit* I girl
while she is feeding hay to the cow.
A wise Kansas editor is of the opin
ion that it is caused by missing the
girl and kissing the cow. The Ali-
I niston Il®t Blast thinks it might
probably be caused by kissing a
' girl on the lawn on a moonlight
night. The Albany Herald says it
j may be caused by a girl letting a
i good chance pass during her hey
day. And there are times, when a
fellow may contract hay fever, or
worse, by kissing his best girl
without having a clov— er —but
let that pass.
THE OFFICIAL COUNT.
In the recent congressional i b e
tion in Georgia the following are
rhe official iguree; shown by ti c
face of the returns :
First Dietrct —Lester, 14,328;
Br >wn, 5,415; majority, 8,913.
Second District —Russell, 8,703;
Smith,
Third District —Crisp, 8.503;
White, 2 568; majority, 5,935.
Fourth District —Moses, 10,291 ;
Thornton, 7,684; majority, 4 607.
Fifth District—Livingston,7,393;
Todd, 5,042; majority, 2,351.
Sixth District—Bartlett, 11.608;
Whitaker, 6,045; majority, 5.563.
Seventh District—Maddox. 10,145
Felton, 8 583; majority, 1,562.
Eighth District—Lawson, 10,586;
Carter, 7,434; majority, 3,152.
Ninth District—Tate, 14,551;
Twitty, 10.546; majority, 4,005
Tenth District —Black, 20,903;
Watson, 13,530; majority, 7,373
Eleventh District —Turner, 8 163;
Johnson, 5,139; majority, 3,024
It will be seen that Black of the
10th polled the highest, or 20,903
votes, about 13,000 of them in
Richmond county.
Carter Tate of the 9th, is second
with a vote of 14,551.
Lester, of the Ist, is third with
11,828.
Bartlet, of the 6th, is fourth
with 11,608.
Lawson, of the Bth. is fifth with
10.586.
Moses, of the 4th, is sixth, with
10,291.
Moddox, of the 7th, is seventh,
with 10,145 votes.
By. glancing over the above fig
ures, it will he seen that “Our
John” polled a bigger vote than
Russell, Crisp, Livingston, or Tur
ner.
It will be seen, too, that Living
ston, of the fifth, received fewer
votes than any of his colleagues,
and fewer than five of the popu
lists, and this too, in Atlanta's
teritory.
The total democratic vote is 125,
183, and the total populist
vote, the republicans concurring,
is 77,066, or a democratic majori
ty of 48,117 votes, or an average of
4,374 votes for each democrat.
For individual majorities, Les
ter, of the first, leads, while Judge
Maddox, of the seventh, brings up
the rear against that crafty old po
litical fox, and aged floppist, Dr.
Felton.

In life is not education as much as proper
education —that is, education along the line of

during this time. I wqs looking at the

ready to graJuate we will all have made up our
minds what he is best fitted for by his use qf
these books. Besides, there he will find the
life stories of all the great men of the past,
and he will know of their efforts, their
struggles and their successes, and he may
have a better and more serious view of life.
These books have in them all thp instruction
