Yesterday, the Probe brothers, who
resides near this city, went to
church, leaving their aged mother
at home. On their return they
found her unconscious and covered
with blood, having been shot. She
is still alive, but there is no hope
for her recovery.
She came to this country eight
years ago. Today a stranger named
Ferdinand was arrested and lodg
ed in jail. Her sons recognized
him as a former sweetheart of
their mother in Germany, but had
not seen him since they left the ok
country. From h’s actions he is
thought to be insane.

The indications are that the pres
ent government loan of $50,000,
000 will not only all be taken, but
that the aggregate'of the bids wi 1
be far in excuse of the amount of
the bonds to be sold.
As fast as received the bids are
irumtdiately placed, unopened, in
the treasury vaults, so that it is
impossible to know in advance of
the generiu opening on the next

the prices offered.
