THANKSGIVING.
How The Day Was Observed in
Rome Concert at Shorter College.
Thanksgiving was generally ol -
served in Rome yesterday. The
Banks, Schools and all public in
stitutions gave a holliday. Many of
the Merchants closed up for a few
hours during the dinner hour.
The Episcopal Church was the
only one in the city to hold a Spe
cial service. Many attended and a
considerable sum was offered for
the poor.
Last uight there was a Special
thanksgiving service at Shorter
College. Many interesting recita
tions, songs etc, were offered by
the pupils and the evening was a
most pleasant one.
M. M. Folsom, of the Tribune
made a short and eloquent address
to the young ladies.
