THE RIVERS UP.
The Etowah and Oostaunaula
Both Very High.
Investigation early this morning
proved that the Etowah river had
rib'en thirteen feet in the last 24
hours*
The Oostanauja is up gome 10
or 12 feet, and these two rivers
forming the make a large
stream.
The heavy rains yesterday and
last night filled up the streams
rapidly, and had the rain ooptiib
ued 24 hours longer it is probable
that the rivers would have been
out of their banks,
Considerable apprehension was
felt yesterday afternoon and last
night, but people felt easier this
morning, when they arose and
found the sky clear and the weath
er delightful.

At the hospital all that science
aid unremitting attention could
do wan done, A special nurse gave
undivided attention to him, and
nutriment was administered at fre

relapsed into inaenibility.
Said Dr. Mol in, the house sur

breaths:
"‘it is a clear caie of stavatioi -
nothing else. There are indications
of Bright’s disease due directly to
exposure and lack of norishment,

save exhaustion.
“in most cases it is impossible
to save a patient when he is as far
gone as this one, although wo pull
them through sometimes. After
being entirely without food for
e'ght days, the organs are unable
to assimilate even milk and whis
key, which we general!}’ use.”
Mahar was thirty-five years old
and was single. He was G feet tall
and had dark hair and blue eyes.
He had no relatives in the city.
He stopped with a family named
Maloy, on State street, Brooklyn,
for some time, but for a week or
