FOURTH WARD
FOUR YOUNG MEN,
Highly Connected, Who are Charg
ed With Train Robbery.
I Ft. Worth, Texan, Dee. 12,
I
I The four men implicated in the
Deni .looks train robbery by the
confession of Sam Evans, nephew
of Captain Sam Evans, of this city
are now in jail here, and the offi
cials claim to have a dead sure I
case against them all.
The four men are Sam Evane, of
this city, who in highly connected ;
John Ward, Walter Sullivan and
M alter Gardiner, all young farm
ers, whe live within a mile of where
the robbery was committed.
Evans, *ho was arres'ed in Cor- ,
aicana, states that the money was
divided before they left the scene
of the robbery, after which they
went west about five miles, from *
which point the other three men
concerned went to their homesand
ie went to Corsicana, near which
point they were to meet and hold
up a train on the Central road.
He claims that his share of the
plunder was large enough to fix
him all right after he had got
through with his trouble.
KILLED THEM BOTH.
And Then Stabbed Himself to
Death. Tragedy in South Carolina
Florence, S. C., December 12.
Ettsell Adams, a well-to-do farm
er living three miles from here,
through a fit of temporary insani
ty, shot his daughter in the head
today. He afterwards shot his wife
aud then slashed himself to death.
All three are dead.
It is a horrible tragedv, the
more on account of Adams being
such a Christian man. Etts*ll
Adams was a son of the late Ettsell
Adams, of the firm of Adams &
Frost, of Charleston. The whole
country is wild with excitement
and details are meager.
YOU SHOULD GET IT.
Should get what? Why, The Rev.
Irl R. Hicks’ splendid Almanac
for 1895. He has kindly sent to
this office a copy of the same, and
we speak advisedly in saying that
it is a rare publication—the latest
and best of all that has emanated
from the pen and I rain and 1 eirt
of this well-know friend of the
public.
The history of this man’s work—
now an open book to all America
and a casual glance at hie Alma
nac for 1895, convinces us that
this vitally useful and instructive
book ought to find its way into
every shop, store, office and home
in the land.
The price of the book—only 25
cents —could not to our know ledge
be invested for any one thing more
profitably. It contains 84 pages,
■ printed on fine book paper, with
elegant covers in colors. It is for
sale by all newsdealers. This fine
Almanac is given as a premium to
every yearly suscriber to the Rev,
Irl R. Hicks’ well-known and de
servedly popular paper, Word and
Works.
This unique journal is a peerless
educator of the masses, and is fast
becoming a household guardian
and necessity in the homes of
America. Those who want to keep
up with all the advanced thought
of the age in science, religion and
all social, commercial, intellectu
al and domestic subjects, should
subscribe for Word and Works.
Subscription only sl. a year. You
