Two men Tramp 1,3 H Miles on a-
Wager.
Jacksonville, Fla., December2l.
—L. S. Tinker and S. F. Jennings
of Rochester, N. Y., arrived at
raHahassee about noon today.
They walked from Rochester to
Tallahassee for a purse of SSOO.
They left Rochester October 2nd
and were to r°ach 1 allahassee- De
cember 25, so they have won the
wager with five days to spare. They
made 1,871 miles in 08 walking
days, having rested fifteen days on
the route.
They started with $2 each. They
were not to carry a watch or sleep
in a hotel. They were to make their
way as best they could and were to
ride only in wagons going their
way. Thev role only fifteen miles
of the entire distance.
They came via Pittsburg, \\ heel
ing, Mount Sterling, Harriman,
Chattanooga, Atlanta, Americus
and Thomasville. Tinker is a drug
gist ai.d Jennings a teacher. They
were treated fairly well on their
way. but found more hospitality
in Tennessee ami South Georgia
than in the other states. Both are
young men and are in excellent
health.
