of age ; Michael Desmond, 6 years
of age ; Dan el Cummings, 7 years

the Cumin.ngs boys.
At 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon

pour of rain, reaching almost the
proputions ot a cloudburst. Hie
four boys, in company with two
larger boys, so’ight shelter !
from the rain in a culvert at the
corner of Fourth and Linn street.-..
Before the boys rea ized their
peril, the ravine which this cul

roaring torrent, and the watei
shot through this six by six cul
vert wi’h almost irresistible force .
The two larger boys barely
managed to save their lives, while
the four li'tle fellows could offer
no resistance to the pitiless Hood.
The ravine ends in the Missouri
River, about 2,000 feet from the
culvert where the boys took ref
uge, and the bodies of the vic ims
with the exception of that of Den
nis Desmi nd, wertcarried into the
river, beyond the hope of imme
