“I indorse every wc rd you said
in the Bulls Eye column yester
day afternoon, about the death of
Von Gammon,” said Capt. John
J . Seay to me this morning. Con
tinuing he said: “The death of no
boy or young man in Rome could
have c used so profound a sensa
tion and such deep and univer
sal regret. ”
* ”
* * -•
“I would like to see an investi
gation held, and am confident that
there was more of revenge tnan of
accident in the death blow.” Cap*.
Seay, like every one else who knew
the noble young athlete, loved him
and when talking of his tragic end
does not go far until the mist
cieeps into eye and voice.
* *
*
“Let the legislature do its duty,”
said lie, “and before night the
brutal game will be out ! awed
What a pity the bill that was in
troduced last sessicn was ever pig
eonholed,” Capt. Seay voices the
sentiments of the people of Rome,
to a man.
***
But Capt. Seay w -s not the on
ly man who endorsed the Buds
Eye column of yesterday. Quite a
number of good citizens have call
ed at the office today to gat copies
of yesterday’s paper, either to file
away or to send to friends or re a
tives residing out of the city.

Tr. Headden, of the First Bap
tist, and Rev. J. E. Hudson, of
Second Baptist, are conducting a
must interesting series of meetings
at the Howard Ave., Methodist
church in East Rome. These ser
vices begin at 3p. in. and at 7 in
the evening. You will be benefited
by attending any of these services
the more the better, for you.
*
* *
You can paste this in your hat,
remembering that the Hustler of
Rome clinched it by saying “Mark
the predictson” and that is this.
*
* *
In the gubernatorial race next
year Allen D. Candler will carry
very e ui.ty in the Seventh con
gressional district, the county of
Cobb not excepted. He will carry
every county in 'he Finth district.
He will carry Fulton, Richmond,
Chatham and Muscogee, and, in
fact, will carry more th n half of
the counties outside of the Seventh
and Ninth.
It’s a long time away, but you
will see Allen D. Candler succeed
W, Y. Atkinson in the Governor
ship. I say this knowing that rug
ged, honest old Allen Candler is
not in the race at this time. I
“mark the prediction” because I
know that Col. Candler is “the”
logical man the hour for the
conc’itions we face, end bf cause 1
read it in lhe minds of the people.
The masses are sick of the corrupt
methods they see already being
employed by trading politicians
who are scheming, conniving and
laying wires and pipe lines for of
fice.
